Burrs Country Park is a country park located just 2 miles to the north of Bury town centre, about 30 min drive from Manchester.
The park is good for walking, cycling and outdoor activities within a beautiful setting by the river Irwell.
It has some nice open spaces with plenty of room for young kids to run around and it is a nice spot for other activities, like fishing, picnicking and bird watching.
It has a cafe, toilet facilities, a pub, a playground, a heritage railway station (East Lancashire Railway) and a caravan park. It is also home to some sculpture works as part of the Irwell Sculpture Trail and some industrial remnants.
There is a free car park on site with limited spaces.
More information about the country park regarding facilities and its industrial history can be found here.
Suggested Walk

This is an easy circular walk starting at the entrance to Burrs Country Park. It provides some nice views of the river Irwell and surrounding countryside. The walk goes through a weir, woodland, ponds and by the East Lancashire Railway. The path is narrow at times and it can be very muddy in places after rain so appropriate shoes are recommended.
